Grocery Shopping

Here are a couple of my pet peeves that involve grocery shopping. Maybe it is just me, but I can always remember what I will need at the store when I am not able to write it down on my list. Why do you suppose that is? I can even open the fridge and pantry and still cannot think of what I need. So then I go to the store and still don't remember anything, end up spending money on things I don't really need. Then when I get home I remember everything that I needed. Someone needs to come up with something that will help solve this. (of course if I am the only one I guess it doesn't matter. I should just be better at heading straight to my list and writing it down) Something that will keep track of what you bought and then you know what you got before. That would really only work if you bought what you needed though. There has got to be something (other than the recording thing that you see commercials for. You know eggs, milk, bread..... then when you get to the store you push the button and it plays it back for you. yeah I want to walk around the store with that.) EVERYTHING else in the world (okay maybe not everything, but pretty much) is electronic. Why can't someone figure out an EASY way to make a grocery list? Something that doesn't require clicking around through a thousand things just to get to the right application for a grocery list. I know I wouldn't use that. Something........ super.
The other thing is carts. I don't get it. You either have to only have 1 kid to go shopping, or use the HUGE carts with either a car on them (which is worse than a regular cart cause everyone wants to get in it, and they can't, so fights and crying ensue.) or the carts that have the extra thing by where you push and seats two kids. Those are NOT fun to push. Why is it that only Sam's club and Costco have the carts with the two seats on the actual cart? Is that the only place you can go if you have more than 1 child? Seriously. They assume that you only have 1 child at Walmart and 2 at Sam's. Besides that, the cart itself is bigger. Who likes to cram all their groceries in a cart and then start piling them up in some sort of balancing act? If we had the Sam's/Costco cart at Walmart or anywhere, that would be nice. They could keep the regular carts and even have smaller ones. (Maceys does) At least when I go to Sam's I can keep the youger two wrangled in the cart.
(sigh) if only the world was perfect..............

  1. Hey lady I have a thought.... One thing that helps me is to sit down and make a menu of the week. Based on my menu I then make a grocery list off of that. It saves money and I have all the right ingredients to cook that week. I keep a list on the fridge so when Jeremy or I think of something we need we jot it down. The whole shopping cart thing stinks!

  2. Oh, and also the times when you're in a hurry and you pay for your stuff only to get home and realize every single thin that was on sale they didn't give you the sale price for? So when when all you went for was to get the incredible savings on miracle whip, mayo, ice cream, string cheese, and pepsi, your bill is over twice what it should be! Is it worth it to drive all the way back? How valuable is your time and sanity? I've been trying to work out this equation. At what price would I make the effort to return it?

  3. Oh, and what about broken things? I bought three little battery operated lights at Ikea, and one of them had a missing battery. Is it worth driving all the way back to Ikea and paying more in gas? Of course not, so you just eat that expense. So annoying.
